The new beauty of shopping will open by summer 2025

Designer Outlet Algarve is growing

Designer Outlet Algarve is expanding by further 4,000 sqm with up to 25 new stores. Opening is planned for summer 2025

Enhanced premium outlet shopping proposition

Growing tourism with 5 million annual tourists

Designer Outlet Algarve kicked off construction works on its centre extension last summer amidst anticipation for this new phase, which is due to open in the summer of 2025 and will add up to 25 new attractive stores on an additional gross lettable area of 4,000 sqm. The outlet village already boasts a strong premium brand line-up of over 70 international designer, fashion and lifestyle brands including Adolfo Domínguez, Bimba y Lola, BOSS, Façonnable, Purificación García and Tommy Hilfiger, among others. Over the past few years, Designer Outlet Algarve has seen an intense ‘premiumisation’, which is now leading to the upcoming centre extension, as it will further enrich the current premium offer and meet the growing needs of both customers and brands.

High-spending customer profile

“Our customers are demanding more up-market brands. On the one hand, we have Portuguese and Spanish customers who increasingly seek to buy more premium, and, on the other hand, we have further international tourists who come to the Algarve to relax and want to indulge themselves by shopping for exclusive names,” says Mireia Rodríguez Burguera, Leasing Director at ROS Retail Outlet Shopping, the operator of Designer Outlet Algarve.

Indeed, Designer Outlet Algarve is a popular shopping destination among travellers from southern Portugal and Spain as well as holidaymakers. Designer Outlet Algarve benefits from the large influx of national and international tourists to the region of approximately 5 million a year. More than half of Designer Outlet Algarve's visitors are foreigners, mainly British, followed by Spanish. Its privileged location puts it just 15-minute drive from Faro airport and 40-minute drive from the Spanish border.

Algarve as leading Europe’s holiday and leisure destination

As tourism keeps growing in the region, so are the cooperations Designer Outlet Algarve has with different tourism operators, including hotels, leisure facilities and sports resorts. Known for its perfect blend of natural beauty and cultural richness, the Algarve is also a golfer’s paradise and has been repeatedly considered the best golf destination in Europe and the world by prestigious magazines, associations and specialized operators. With its peak golf season in autumn and spring, the Algarve is increasingly becoming an all-round tourism magnet, attracting visitors with higher purchasing power.

Part of Algarve’s largest shopping destination

Designer Outlet Algarve is part of the 82,000 sqm Algarve Shopping Complex, comprising also MAR Shopping Algarve, the only IKEA store in southern Portugal and an outdoor leisure area. The whole shopping area makes a perfect-day out and cross-border shopping destination both for the catchment area and tourists. In terms of the last joint campaign, the Algarve Shopping Complex is ‘THE PLACE TO BE – one destination for all senses’, which aims to position the complex as one common destination in the south of Portugal to shop, eat and relax.
